Pork Recipes

Pork is white meat which makes it healthier for the heart. On top of that, pork has a richer flavour than chicken. Here are a few pork soup recipes.

Besides soup, I stir fry pork for a simple meal, the left overs of which can be used in the next meal.

Stir Fry Pork Recipe

Nothing beats a bottle of premium grade dark soy sauce for stir frying. Add a little garlic and sugar and you can whip up a tasty meal quickly.

Black sauce stir fry pork ingredients

  • 1 kg lean pork cut in fine slices.
  • 3 cloves of garlic, peeled and minced.
  • 2 tablespoons of dark soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon of raw sugar
  • 2 tablepoons corn flour.
  • 1 tablespoon organic sesame oil

Coat the pork slices in corn flour. Mix the sugar and soy sauce to form the marinade. Mix the pork with the marinade and set aside for a few hours.

Cooking method

  1. Heat the sesame oil and the garlic in the frying pan until the garlic is browned.
  2. Add in the pork and stir fry until tender.

When I cooked that dish, I cooked a side of mixed veggies. You know the frozen peas/corn/carrots from the supermarket? Just stirfry with garlic in a tablespoon of olive oil. These dishes were served with brown rice for a wholesome meal for a family of four large eaters.

Recycling leftover food

Turned out they weren't as big eaters as I had thought. There was so much pork and veggies and rice left over I had enough for another meal. Once the food was cool, I refrigerated it to keep it fresh. You know the claypot rice some places serve? The leftovers had most of the ingredients necessary for that, so I gave it a shot.

Fried Pork Rice Recipe

I don't have a claypot so I had to settle with fried rice, but the results looked and tasted the same as claypot rice, sans claypot.

Ingredients

  • Left over pork, mixed veggies, brown rice.
  • More freshly cooked brown rice to pad up the leftovers so everyone has enough to eat.
  • 3 cloves of garlic, peeled and minced
  • 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
  • 5 chinese wine sausages, finely sliced. You know those red ones on strings you can get from Chinatown.

All you do is fry the garlic in the olive oil. Then add in the chinese sausages until browned. Put in the leftovers to heat that up. Finally, add the extra rice. Keep stirring to mix everything thouroughly. Serve piping hot.
