One of the first things I got when we married and moved out was a slow cooker.
As we both work all day in the office, we wanted a warm home cooked meal waiting for us at home.
With a slow cooker, some simple slow cooker recipes and a rice cooker, we could have a warm, yummy, albiet simple meal each night.
Before going to work, I'd chop up a carrot, a potato, an onion. Throw in some beef or chicken or pork into the slow cooker with those chopped vegetables and corn on the cob, add water, turn on the slow cooker to cook it while we were at work. Once home, I'd put rice and water in the rice cooker and set it to cook while we unwind and wait for dinner to be ready.
The next thing my colleague advised me to get was a pressure cooker. That would speed up cooking time tremendously.
